HP Deskjet 3323 Printers - Driver Installation Fails with USB Connection
When a HP Deskjet 3323 USB driver installation is interrupted, subsequent installation attempts may fail. The PC will not detect the printer.
A new scrubber utility which is on the install CD, removes the files that are blocking the installation. The driver will install successfully after running the scrubber utility.
NOTE: Do not use the scrubber utility to uninstall the driver. Use it only when the USB installation is blocked because of an unsuccessful install attempt.
Instructions For HP Deskjet 3323
Follow the instructions below to run the scrubber.exe utility, restart the PC, and install the USB driver. Do not connect the USB cable to the PC until a driver installation screen prompts you to.
Disconnect the USB cable connection from the printer to the PC.
Ensure the cable from the printer to the PC is disconnected.
Insert the installation CD that came with the HP Deskjet printer.
Click Start, Run, and then Browse .
Browse to X:util\support\folder where X is the driver letter of your CD.
Double-click scrubber.exe . The Delete Printer box appears.
Click Delete Printer . A box appears that asks you to wait while the printer is deleted.
The next box reminds you to disconnect the cable between the printer and the PC.
Click Next . Do not re-connect the printer to the computer until instructed to do so.
Click Next when prompted to reboot the system to complete the task. Do not connect the USB cable after rebooting (restarting) the PC.
Click Start, Run, and then click Browse . Browse to the deskjet driver folder.
Double-click setup.exe . Continue the installation following the on-screen instructions. Wait to connect the USB cable until prompted.
