Laserjet 1010 cutting off edge of print - driver issue? - This thread has been closed
( problem id 1010-013 )

I have had a Laserjet 1010 for a few months now, and it has printed from Word (and other programs) without any problems.

Now I am trying to print a document that has custom page settings (I was provided with a template). However on print preview
it cuts the left and right edges of the printing off and a large chunk off the bottom. When I try to print I get the message
'The margins of section [X] are set outside the printable area of the page. Do you want to continue?'

If I continue, the print cuts off the text as shown in print preview. (I tried 'fixing' the margins in Word - no change.)

I would think that this was a problem with Word or with the template, except that it printed fine on my parents' computer
(Lexmark printer). I moved my Laserjet 1010 printer to their machine but it has the same problems as on my computer.

I tried changing the printer driver from the specific HP Laserjet 1010 to the HP Laserjet one available in the control panel
printer setup, and this displays the page correctly in print preview. However it doesn't recognise the printer, so I can't
print using it.

So I am thinking that the issue is something to do with the 1010 driver? I have the latest version of the 1010 driver, but I
have no idea what to try next.

Any advice/suggestions would be gratefully received.

Your problem is to do with the custom page settings in the template and the page settings in the printer.
It may be you need to define a page size, give it a name so you can use it in the future, on this page you need to set your
margins etc. so that they are the same or have larger margins than your template
The template you have at the moment obviously has some pre-defined margins etc and these are outside the parameters of your
current page as such the printer will cut the text off to fit the page.
When doing this I set my custom page to the absolute minimum I can use for the margins so the templates will not be cut off.
Then my page is saved with a name so I can use it in the future.
