HP Laserjet 1012 - Toner level pop-up

cartridge is brand new. Any ideas why or how to keep these messages from popping up?
printing system for 1012 consists of driver itself and huge printer monitor. monitor is implemented as complete web server
based on apache tomcat and sometimes significantly degradates workstation's performance. if printer is located near you,
there is no real need to have monitor installed.
